What a dense class! We covered everything from determining project success evaluations ahead of time to development life cycle to dimensional modeling to data mining and more. Now my head is spinning with ways to steer our organization into fully taking advantage of the data solution we are wrapping up and where the next months of development need to focus. If nothing else, logistics is a great landscape for conformed data warehousing across the enterprise. In our particular case the politics (natural and contrived by the transition effort) are the biggest roadblock to a high-value system being implemented. This is a common concern among classmates although none seem as strongly dysfunctional as the defense contracting industry! Nonetheless, there’s much more good work to be done, particularly in refining the system through detailed discussion with business area leaders. Build the DW, and decision trees and process optimization will come!
